Marketing is not about YOU!
I had the privilege of helping with a video this past month for one of our clients, and it was the first big project (or really any project) I was involved in. And let me be honest; I was not happy this was my first one—I was nervous and stressed the minute my role was explained to me. While the stress and nervousness only increased as I worked on this project, I still learned a few valuable lessons from it. The first things I learned go hand-in-hand: 1) Marketing isn’t about me, and 2) It’s all about … Continue reading
Why it’s Important to Love Your Job
Almost all of us have heard the famous line, “Find a job you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life” by Confucius. As easy as this is to say, many people struggle finding a job they love—or loving the job they already have. Working diligently can be very difficult when you don’t enjoy what you do. However, the environment has a lot to do with how much you enjoy your work. Working with people who are passionate about what they do and enjoy their work can create an incredible atmosphere. I have quickly learned what … Continue reading
Got Your Back
I worked for a church one summer while I was in college. In my very first staff meeting, I was told, “I will always have your back—even if it’s in front of all the other staff.” Sadly, I think this is becoming a lost art in today’s culture. People spend so much time looking out for their own interests and protecting themselves that, ultimately, teamwork is lost. Instead, they operate as individuals. Here at PayProMedia, I love the team of people I work with every day. We get along, have fun, and work well together. However, in the … Continue reading
Gaining Brand Loyalty: A Golfer’s Perspective
It’s no secret that I love to play golf—to the point where I played when it was 45 degrees outside with wind gusting at 20 MPH. (Who does that?) I’m not sure what I like so much about it. I have played since I was young and just feel a certain connection to the game. I know a lot of it is because I love to be outdoors, but I don’t fully understand the rest. Maybe it’s the fact that I have invested so many hours into practice and getting better. Maybe it’s the opportunity to use … Continue reading
The Importance of Brand Standards
A couple of months ago, I was tasked with designing our local high school’s gymnasium floor. Obviously, when you live in Indiana, what this really means is designing the basketball court floor. That isn’t to take anything away from volleyball, but we’re talking about basketball in Indiana. In a meeting with the school’s Athletic Director, Matt brought up the idea of the school having brand standards. I obviously agreed, having done this numerous times with our PayProMedia clients. The importance of brand standards for a high school might strike some as odd, but with the amount of … Continue reading
The Company Logo
A company logo—it’s just a small, sometimes colorful picture to represent a business, right? It isn’t necessary to put a lot of thought and debate into the creation of your business’ logo, is it? If you thought yes to those questions, then this blog post is definitely for you. The business logo is often the first impression others have of your business. A logo is not simply a pretty picture meant to catch the eye—although it should do that as well. A logo tells a story and has meaning behind it. A logo should describe your business or service … Continue reading
The Right Stuff – A Peek at Production Cameras
You get what you pay for. Have you heard that before? Do you believe it? I have heard this comment thrown out time after time, and it usually follows the self-destruction of some item that was purchased for way less than a quality counterpart would have been. We live in a world of options. You can purchase the $160 designer jeans, or you can opt for the Wal-Mart Wrangler special for $15.99. A BMW car lot attracts a special breed of buyer, while your hometown Ford, Chrysler, or Chevy dealer will welcome just about anybody. Are the designer … Continue reading
Claim Your Space
When I first walked into my own office I was in awe. It may not seem like much to some, but coming from a job where I was standing all day long, in a limited space with at least five other people hovering around at all times, I couldn’t believe this was my own. A big ol’ desk, a brand new MacBook (I even got to take it out of the box!), a huge monitor, and a swivel chair. What more could a girl ask for!? Unfortunately, as the awe and excitement wore off, I started to feel uncomfortable … Continue reading
10 Tips for Effectively Leading a Small Team
I recently became the director of the social media team here at PayProMedia. I admit I am excited to be in this role, especially with the future growth potential of the social media team and the company as a whole. While doing some reading on leadership, I came across an article on suite101.com that grabbed my attention. It shared ten tips for leading small teams to success, and I couldn’t help but realize how perfectly they aligned with my leadership strategy. Keeping things in perspective, right now my team is small. Very small. In fact, it consists of … Continue reading
Sanding and Marketing
Have you ever done a house project that involved mudding (a.k.a. “spackling”) and sanding? If you have, you might have just shuddered a little. Let me explain the process for those of you who are confused. If you have any type of hole, gap, or uneven surface, you may need to put “mud” (or spackle) in it. After letting the mud dry, it is important to go back and sand it. Sanding is something that I personally find very difficult and am not very good at. You must make sure there are no rough edges and that the surface … Continue reading
